Andreas Ragnar Kasapis
Born in 1981, lives and works in Athens, Greece. Studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1999-2004). His work between 2003 and 2007 focused on pasting illustrative poster murals on the streets of Athens. In general, the work was characterized by realistic facial features and abstract proportioned bodies with influences based on comics and illustration. Recently, he concentrates on studio work, on subjects which refer to issues of memory, childhood, technical images. The main body of this consists of figurative and portrait painting, as well as archival photos (personal or found). Synthesis comes from creating distracting forms inside the narration of the painting/photographic surface, with a process of erasing and simultaneous equality in opposition. Aim is to construct an apposition or a veiling “collage” installation in space. Since 2008, works on a musical- soundscape project, called “Rooms in Negative” .
